About

I am a Ph.D. student at Northwestern University, Department of Political Science, and I am also pursuing an M.S. degree in Applied Statistics. Previously, I have been a graduate student in Political Science at Boğaziçi University and a research assistant at the Department of Political Science at FSM Vakif University. In addition to my graduate studies, I have been taking different roles as a research and teaching assistant in various projects and institutions.
My thesis research explores the dynamics that shape the elite networks in armed movements. To this aim, I focus on the emergence and development of three nationalist movements in the late Ottoman Empire, which are the Albanian, Kurdish, and Macedo/Bulgarian movements. To pursue this research, I collected a dataset that contains the cooperation of the elite and their ideological attributes over a period of 30 years.
In general, I am interested in political representation in non-democratic settings, ethnic conflict and violence, and the application of computational methods to the study of politics. I also write and think about Turkish foreign policy and international politics in the MENA region.
I am also a graduate of the Abdullah Tivnikli ISAR Foundation 4-years program which combines the classical study of Madrasah education with a strict curriculum of Arabic language training.
